  • 0.5 pound egg noodles
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.125 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cans tuna drained
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, melt 0.5 cup butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in sour cream, salt, pepper, drained tuna, frozen peas, and 1.5 cups cheddar cheese.
  • Add the cooked egg noodles and stir to combine.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.

Notes

For an extra cheesy casserole, you can add more cheese on top before baking. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
