Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 1.5-quart baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Spoon bread is best served warm. You can add cheese, herbs, or other ingredients to customize the flavor.
