Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the molasses.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Decorate with royal icing once cooled for a festive touch!
