Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Gradually add boiling water to batter; beat until smooth.
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes before inverting onto wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
This recipe can be easily adapted to your liking. You can add chocolate chips, nuts, or other desired ingredients to the batter.
