Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, and red food coloring. Add buttermilk, oil, and eggs; mix until just combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
In a bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
Layer the cake, cream cheese frosting, and whipped cream in a trifle bowl or individual serving glasses. Top with fresh berries.
