  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 cup fresh berries

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, combine sugar, cocoa powder, and red food coloring. Add buttermilk, oil, and eggs; mix until just combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Layer the cake, cream cheese frosting, and whipped cream in a trifle bowl or individual serving glasses. Top with fresh berries.
