Ingredients
  

Breadsticks

  • 2.25 cups warm water
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour

Topping

  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Stir in olive oil and salt.
  • Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a breadstick shape.
  • Place breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 20-30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While breadsticks are baking, mix melted butter, garlic powder, salt, and parsley.
  • Brush the topping mixture over the hot breadsticks immediately after they come out of the oven.
