Instructions
Preparation Steps
Make sandwiches by layering ham and cheese between two slices of bread.
In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
Heat butter and oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Fry sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese is melted.

Notes
This sandwich is best served warm. Powdered sugar and raspberry jam are traditional accompaniments.
