Preparation Steps
Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Add onions and mushrooms; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in flour, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth.
Reduce heat to low; simmer for 10 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
Stir in sour cream. Heat through, but do not boil.
Serve over egg noodles or rice.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a combination of ground beef and ground veal.
