Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decorate with frosting and sprinkles as desired.
Notes
Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
