Main Ingredients

  • 0.5 head Green Cabbage thinly sliced
  • 0.25 pound Bacon chopped
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet or pot, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  • Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon grease and cook until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until the cabbage has wilted and is tender-crisp.
  • Stir in the butter until melted. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the cooked bacon.
  • Serve hot as a side dish.

Notes

For a heartier meal, you can add some cooked sausage or a poached egg on top.
