For the Bread

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced apples

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • While the bread is cooling, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.

Notes

This apple fritter bread is best served warm or at room temperature.
